BGBB Kid’s Red Carpet

Literacy is important, and what better way to support childhood literacy than having Black and Brown children see themselves in the books they read from the dynamic authors who wrote them?

As Dr. Gurley says, “Representation is not just about color. It is also about culturally setting a standard of excellence for our children.”

2023 BGBB Kid’s Red Carpet Book Tour & Literacy Festival

The 2023 BGBB Kid’s Red Carpet Book Tour & Literacy Festival is an event that celebrates literacy and the love of reading. It’s a great opportunity for kids to get excited about reading, meet their favorite authors, and learn more about the literary world.

The festival will feature a variety of interactive activities, including author readings, virtual reality, writing labs, and kid karaoke. There will also be a book signing where kids can purchase books and get autographs from the authors. The Literacy Festival is a great way to encourage kids to read more and improve their literacy skills.

This event promises to be a fun-filled event that your kids will love! Tickets will be available on Ticketleap on Mar 15, 2023.

Jackson, MS. – May 13, 2023

On May 13, 2023, the tour returns to Jackson, MS, with more activities, more engagement, and more celebration of literacy. Last year’s tour was a success, and we are looking forward to another great event this year – bigger and more exciting!

Memphis, TN. – July 29, 2023

The Brown Girl and Brown Boy Kid’s Red Carpet heads to Memphis, Tennessee for the first time. A city selected because of its deep historical roots in the African American community and its commitment to celebrating diversity, Memphis is the perfect place to host a book tour and literacy festival.

The city is also home to many historical landmarks, such as the birthplace of rock ‘n’ roll, the Lorraine Hotel – where Dr. Martin Luther King was assassinated, and its food scene is world-renowned.

We are excited to bring this event to Memphis and celebrate the amazing young people who live there.

Well-planned and well-staffed event. It’s appreciated!

My children enjoyed the red carpet event so much . The activities for each of their age groups from toddler to teenager were entertaining . The host really showcased a caring and professional atmosphere blending literature and fun together. We loved attending and purchasing books too. Looking forward to the next event!
