Annual Brown Girl and Brown Boy Kid’s Red Carpet
Literacy Fest and Book Tour

First launched in May 2021, the BGBB Kid’s Red Carpet Book Tour and Literacy Festival bring a unique experience and opportunity for children to celebrate literacy and discover new books written by participating authors.
With the focus and belief that literacy is in all things, the event provides an interactive and fun environment that encourages children to explore their literary interests. From kid-friendly red-carpet interviews, face painting, virtual reality and/or other STEM activities, readings of books by authors, and more, the event is designed to be an enriching experience for children.
The Book Tour and Literacy Festival is also an excellent opportunity for parents to support Black and Brown authors and fill their children’s bookshelves with books that are more representative of their likeness to instill a love of reading from an early age and provide them with the foundation they need to succeed in school and life.
This literacy event is a fun and educational experience for the whole family!
An Evening with Authors

An Evening with Authors is an event that celebrates the importance of literacy, as well as diversity and cultural inclusion. It is much more than a book signing event; it is an event for authors, book lovers, illustrators, writers, and publishers.
This event aims to bring together diverse voices within the community to discuss the importance of cultural inclusion in books for young readers. The event also provides an opportunity for attendees to purchase books that reflect a variety of cultures and experiences. The atmosphere is electrifying as guests and authors engage in thought-provoking conversations and share insights into their creative processes. It’s an evening filled with inspiration, laughs, and drinks that cultivate an environment of connections and new friendships.
Kicking off on November 9, 2023, the event will feature authors, vendors, spoken word poets, and entertainment. Proceeds from the event will go towards funding literacy initiatives provided to communities by our organization.
