Empowering Children to Become Confident Thinkers
The Brown Girl and Brown Boy Literacy Foundation empowers children aged 4-12by fostering holistic literacy that integrates career exploration, life skills, and personal development. Through innovative and inclusive programs, we aim to transform young learners into confident thinkers, creators, and leaders prepared for academic, professional, and personal success.
The Brown Girl and Brown Boy Literacy Foundation was founded in 2022 by Dr. Pamela Gurley to address the literacy gap in marginalized communities. Inspired by a deep passion for diversity in children’s literature and the transformative power of literacy, the foundation is dedicated to empowering children through events and programs that integrate reading, writing, career exploration, and life skills.
With a focus on building self-esteem, critical thinking, and communication skills, we aim to inspire young learners to dream big and achieve their full potential. Since our inception, we’ve served hundreds of children, fostering confident thinkers, creators, and leaders prepared for success in every aspect of life.
At BGBB, we believe that literacy is life, and every child deserves the opportunity to thrive.
